Twitch streamer Dr. Disrespect will continue to stream exclusively on Twitch for years to come after signing a contract extension with the platform.

The competition between streaming services

Twitch, the Amazon-owned platform, has been the birthplace of some of the most famous video game stars and events. However, as the popularity of streams increases, other companies that want to be part of this business also appear.

Services like Mixer cannot compete directly with Twitch’s fan base, so they choose to sign contracts with celebrities like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins or Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek to stream only on their platforms.

The blow that Twitch received after Ninja’s departure (Fortnite’s most popular streamer) was hard, and to avoid this being repeated, they began to sign contracts with the streamers.

Today it was announced that Dr. Disrespect will continue to support the Amazon platform after signing a multi-year contract with the company.

Dr. Disrespect and his Twitch story

It is very difficult not to know Dr Disrespect if you are a frequent Twitch user. He is one of the most popular streamers, being The Game Awards’ Streamer of the Year two times. His content about video games is very varied, and we can usually see him playing what is trending, such as the new Call of Duty Warzone.

Although he has also had controversial moments such as when he filmed the men’s restrooms at E3, Dr. Disrespect has become one of the top Twitch reps with over 163 million views on his channel.

After signing the contract, Dr. Disrespect addressed his more than 4 million followers through a tweet in which he indicated that he did not plan to leave Twitch since this was the place that gave him his first opportunity.

The streamer said that it was the service that allowed him to build his Champions Club Empire (the term he uses to refers to his subscribers) and that he does not intend to disappoint them.

The details of the contract, as well as its duration, were not specified, although Dr Disrespect is not the only streamer who has renewed a contract with the platform. Popular Imane “Pokimane” Anys will also remain on Twitch for years to come.
