Less than two hours after publishing its investigative report on how Google is using AI to suppress certain types of content, Project Veritas has had its Reddit account suspended.

The head of Project Veritas, James O’Keefe, said he realized the account had been suspended after trying to share a link to this investigative report to the popular subbreddit r/The_Donald.

The timing of this suspension means that Project Veritas will be unable to promote this new investigative report through its main Reddit account.

This isn’t the first time Project Veritas has had its accounts or content taken down in the wake of releasing a report which exposes the internal practices of big tech firms. Its previous investigative report which showed that Pinterest was using internal blacklists to censor terms such as “Christian” and “bible verses” was censored by both Twitter and YouTube. Some journalists who mentioned this Pinterest report also had their videos removed by YouTube. In addition to this, Project Veritas claimed in a cease and desist letter that Pinterest attempted to take down this report by filing questionable privacy complaints.

These actions by the tech giants actually helped the investigative report on Pinterest to spread and turned it into a much bigger story which continued to trend days after the publication of the original report. After the story continued to gain traction, Pinterest appeared to remove the term “Christian” from its internal blacklist.

Reddit’s actions are likely to have a similar effect and the suspension of Project Veritas’ Reddit account will probably boost the visibility of this investigative report into Google while also bringing more scrutiny of big tech censorship.
