Twitch streamer Anomaly’s ban for briefly showing Hitler Minecraft skin has been lifted

Popular Twitch streamer Anomaly has had his controversial 30-day ban from the site lifted early, seemingly as the result of an appeal. The original ban was issued on July 29 after Anomaly accidentally showed a Hitler skin on-screen for less than two seconds while playing Minecraft.

When he was originally banned, Anomaly said that he had the skin because he was planning to make a Hitler themed joke in another video. However, he accidentally selected this skin during a Minecraft stream on Twitch before quickly rectifying his mistake. This then led to him being slapped with a 30-day suspension.

At the time, Anomaly said he felt this 30-day ban was excessive and submitted an appeal to Twitch. Other Twitch users and commentators also agreed with Anomaly’s sentiment and pointed out that Alinity and other female Twitch streamers often don’t get the same punishment when they break the rules.

Now 18 days later, it appears that the appeal was successful with Anomaly reporting that he’s been unbanned by Twitch.

Since reporting that he was unbanned, Anomaly has also conducted his first post-ban Minecraft stream.

The decision represents a small victory for those who feel that Twitch often enforces its rules unfairly. However, it follows many other controversial bans including TF Blade being wrongly suspended after he was accused of using the “N-word” and Twitch streamer Alfie being suspended for the comments of one of his subscribers. While TF Blade’s suspension was eventually overturned after five days, he was still unfairly locked out of his account for a word he didn’t use.
