The streaming company Twitch has once again shocked its user community with its absurd Terms of Service double standards. While a SpongeBob SquarePants emote was rejected for being “sexual,” the company’s employee, however, ended up hosting an art stream where he sketched a NSFW image to which Twitch expressed no objection.
With growing time, the Twitch community is becoming increasingly frustrated with the company’s lack of transparent ToS adherence and how a select few streamers were given more leniency whereas other streamers are being dealt a bad hand.
For instance, one of Twitch’s popular streamers Amouranth recently violated the company’s ToS as she flashed her genitals several times throughout a live stream. When this happened, the company simply reinstated her account without strict action against her.
This hasn’t been the first time Amouranth had done this; several members of the Twitch community have said that she has been bending the rules around sexual content for quite some time now.
An employee of Twitch who streams under the username of GeersArt recently did a live art stream where he worked on an image depicting a nude woman’s body with her bare breasts being partially displayed.
While the nipples were covered during the stream, it still qualifies under sexually suggestive content, according to Twitch’s rules and was not acted upon. On the other hand, a mere Spongebob emote gets rejected on grounds of being “sexual.”
Nevertheless, there is a widespread inconsistency with the way Twitch handles ToS violations. This Reddit thread features several well-articulated opinions wherein users express their disdain over Twitch’s absurd mode of operation when it came to dealing with ToS related complaints.

“Twitch doesn’t have a real ToS. I’m convinced. And if they do, someone should sue their dumba** for having a terms of service to be subjective to the person involved in violating said ToS. Maybe give me some more ads everytime I choose to swap what stream I’m watching and you idiots could hire an actual department to CONSISTENTLY enforce your ToS.”
