Singer Lily Allen has not had the best hours of her life after the win of the UK Conservative candidate Boris Johnson – not only because she supported Labour Party representative Jeremy Corbyn, but because after the results were given, she attacked the electorate on Twitter – resulting in a major online backlash against her.

Internet users hit back at Allen’s claims that “racism and misogyny are strongly instilled in the United Kingdom”. Allen then quickly deleted her Twitter account.

A strong backlash against the singer

The attacks on Allen after declaring that the United Kingdom was a racist nation were massive. Among the most prominent was the Good Morning Britain presenter, Piers Morgan, who said without hesitation “I think I speak for Britain when I say if Lily Allen doesn’t like it here, why doesn’t she f *** off?”

Many users took advantage of the moment to then ridicule the fact that Allen had to close her Twitter account after the election results.

Although some believed that it could be a suspension from the social network due to the singer’s behavior, her Twitter profile now says, “This account doesn’t exist”. When an account is suspended the profile reflects clearly that the account has been suspended.

Allen’s signs of support for Jeremy Corbyn

The singer has been participating as a political activist for the leftist party for several years. One of her most viral moments was a video uploaded to TikTok where she can be seen using crying after she read the Labour Party manifesto.

“Guys, I’ve just watched the Labour manifesto and I… I think it’s the best manifesto I’ve ever seen,” Allen said at the time.

It is not known if, at the time, the video was made sarcastically as Allen used a filter to simulate the tears, but given her recent behavior, it seems that she was truly motivated by the manifesto.

As of the time of writing, the Twitter account remains inactive.
