Over the last couple of weeks, there’s been a sharp rise in cancel culture with anyone who dares to challenge, criticize, or even stay silent on certain narratives being swiftly targeted for cancelation.
Now Twitch Kittens, a popular community of Twitch streamers that has over 51,000 Twitter followers and 23,000 Instagram followers, has booted one of its members, Twitch streamer mirta000, after she suggested that protestors might catch the coronavirus and tweeted that people who menstruate are women.
After Mirta posted these tweets, the leader of the Twitch Kittens community, Twitch streamer Khaljiit, accused her of showing “hate” on Twitter and told Mirta that if she wants to stay in the Twitch Kittens community, she must issue a public apology on Twitter and “refrain from making any statements that attack oppressed groups.”
Mirta responded by saying she doesn’t see her opinions as an attack and can’t promise to self-censor if she doesn’t see these opinions as an attack.
Shortly after this exchange, Mirta was boosted from Twitch Kittens and accused of “harassment” for stating that she would be uncomfortable using a public shower with a person who has a penis in the community’s Discord.
Mirta was shocked by her sudden removal from the group and wrote: “They have discarded me over wrongthink in a single night.”
She added that she’s been part of the community for two years, has helped the community to fundraise, and went into every voice chat with the community who she thought were her friends.
“I didn’t think they’d go after my tweets,” Mirta added “We advertise them for them. We don’t get some sort of special privileges.”
Mirta is the latest of many to be targeted for sharing a different opinion in recent weeks.

Some of the many other examples of this include political commentator Candace Owens having her GoFundMe suspended for “intolerance” over opinions on the protests and former LA Galaxy player Aleksandar Kata parting ways with the club because of his wife’s Instagram posts about the protests and riots that have erupted in the US.
