Mullvad Browser is a free, open-source, privacy-focused desktop browser from Mullvad, the company behind the popular virtual private network (VPN) service Mullvad VPN that's available on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Mullvad developed the browser in collaboration with the Tor Project, the creators of the privacy-focused Tor Browser. Like the Tor Browser, Mullvad Browser is based on Firefox. It has a similar design to the Tor Browser and incorporates many of the Tor Browser's privacy and security features.
However, there are several differences. Unlike Tor, Mullvad Browser comes bundled with the ad-blocker uBlock Origin. You can also use Mullvad Browser without routing your traffic through the Tor Network — a decentralized network of nodes and relays that masks users' Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
