A Private and Open-Source Reddit Alternative

Including a self-hosted option.

Lemmy is a fully free and open source attempt to circumvent the deliberately imposed limitations of social link aggregators like Reddit, and it can be run by either joining, or running a server.

Yet another in a series of attempts by free and open source communities to come up with answers, i.e., alternatives to large corporate platforms and the censorship and oppression they have been intensely promoting over the past couple of years, this one comes without ads, tracking, venture capital “input” – or algorithms that secretly “make or break” content, and control it in other ways, such as inorganic downranking, etc.
