The Bellevue, ID, Marshall’s Office deputy who mocked LeBron James in a viral TikTok video was fired. In the video, Nate Silvester mocked Lebron for purporting to know how to deescalate a hostile situation, following the shooting of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.
In a press conference, the mayor of Bellevue, Ned Burns, confirmed the firing of Silvester, saying he was no longer an employee of the Marshal’s office as of May 27.
“We wish Mr. Silvester the best, and we ask for calm and understanding,” Burns said, adding that Silvester was fired for “multiple policy violations.”
Burns also distanced the Marshal’s office from the comments made by Silvester in the video.
“The statements made do NOT represent the Bellevue Marshal’s Office. The Bellevue Marshal’s Office always demands that our deputies engage with our citizens in a friendly and professional manner.”
As previously reported a GoFundMe page was set up in Silvester’s name. It raised more than $500,000, part of which, he says, will be used to set up a fund to help other officers who find themselves in a similar situation. The rest of the money will be donated to the First Responder’s Children’s Foundation.
