During the pandemic, politically incorrect cartoonists are getting censored

? Cartoonists are supposed to push the boundaries, but cartoons about COVID-19 are getting attacked and shut down.

Cartoonists are known for their sharp sense of humor and their ability to artfully represent the trends around us, and are generally widely appreciated across social media with their cartoons being popular media content online. But during the times of COVID-19, when cartoons capture some unspoken truths about the pandemic, they are starting to get censored.

Cartoonists Rights Network International says that attacks against cartoonists between March and May increased two-fold. Be it the increased backlash against cartoonists or censoring, both can be attributed to the intense online monitoring of the content related to COVID-19.

The award winning cartoonist Steven Degryse, also known as Lectrr, has recently released a cartoon which depicts the Chinese flag with biohazard symbols instead of stars. The cartoon not only attracted harsh criticism but also led to Lectrr being bombarded by a ton of hate mail, mostly written in Chinese.
