How governments plan to extend financial surveillance to cryptocurrencies

The Canadian government introduced new rules under the Emergencies Act that will require payment service providers and crowdfunding platforms to report any suspicious activity related to the truckers’ protests.

Crowdfunding platforms and payment service providers will be required to register with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Center of Canada (FINTRAC) and “report large and suspicious transactions.”
