The arrest is being seen as retaliation.

Dr. Li-Meng Yan MD/PhD, the Chinese virologist to first publish allegations the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 was created in a lab, is now saying that her mother has been arrested by the Chinese Communist Party.

Miles Guo, the Chinese billionaire and political activist, in an episode of “War Room Pandemic” alongside President Trump’s ex-strategist Steve Bannon, revealed that Yan’s mother was arrested by the CCP.

According to Miles Guo, the CCP arrested Dr. Limeng Yan’s mother in mainland China in what appears to be retribution after the Hong Kong-based virologist made her accusations against the CCP. This was confirmed by The Epoch Times.

As Yan fled to the United States on April 28 and is no longer going to return to China, it seems like her mother was the last option for the CCP to communicate with her and coerce her into not revealing any more information surrounding the COVID-19.

After fleeing China, Yan spoke about how she believes the virus was created in a lab and then spread to the world deliberately. Talking to Tucker Carlson on Fox News, Yan said that COVID-19 was a “Frankenstein” virus that was released globally for targeting humans.

“It could never come from nature,” said Yan. “There is evidence left in the genome. They don’t want people to know this truth. Also, that’s why I get suspended (from Twitter), I get suppression. I am the target that the Chinese Communist Party wants disappeared.”

On fleeing China, Yan created a Twitter account which was shut down by the social media platform within days.

When Carlson asked Yan how she was so sure about the fact that the virus came from labs in Wuhan, she replied by saying, “I worked in the WHO reference lab, which is the top coronavirus lab in the world at the university of Hong Kong. And the things I got deeply into such investigation in secret from the early beginning of this outbreak – I had my intelligence through my network in China, involved in the hospitals, institutes and also government.”

Yan has faced criticism from other scientists over her claims, with some scientists calling it “speculative.” While Yan’s claims are difficult to verify, it’s clear that China and Western social media platforms are trying to silence the scientist.

It wouldn’t be the first time China has pressured a dissenter by detaining or arresting their relatives.
