The troubling rise of digital, artificial intelligence cops

Freedom of Information Act requests and other records seen by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) reveal that early work is being done on a concept dubbed, "Digital Police Officer (D-PO)."

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is behind this project, and the digital rights groups says this is a national lab - considering that it is run on behalf of the US Department of Energy by a corporation, Battelle.

While at it, EFF also slammed the idea as something that looks like "a pitch for the most dystopian buddy cop movie ever."
