Yesterday, Twitter suspended free speech advocate and gun nerd @IvanTheTroll12, for reasons undisclosed.

Ivan is known for 3D printing guns and believes that an armed society is a polite society. He and several other people with similar beliefs and skill sets came together to make Deterrence Dispensed, which regularly releases gun files to the public, via a blockchain image hosting service.

Ivan caught the eye of New Jersey Senator Menendez, when he put links to gun files in his bio as well as produced the guns himself and tweeted out the Deterrence Dispensed files so anyone was free to download them. As it is illegal for anyone in New Jersey to download 3D printed gun files, Menendez requested that Ivan be suspended from Twitter. As a result, Ivan added “(Illegal in NJ)” to his display name with the hopes of Twitter not suspending him.

When attempting to visit Ivan’s Twitter account, you are met with this message:

“This account has been suspended. Learn more about why Twitter suspends accounts, or return to your timeline.”
