A Battle Revisited: The Supreme Court’s History With Age Verification and Online Anonymity Bans

Legislation mandating online age verification in the US is a hotly contested topic in the present day and age, mostly in view of how it affects people's privacy, anonymity, and safety of personal data.

And, critics say it is by and large unreliable when it comes to the stated purpose methods necessary to ascertain somebody's age online.

A number of state bills have already become law, and some have already been contested in court. The stated focus of the legislation is on protecting minors from various types of harmful influence on the internet.

One instance where parties contest the legal validity of such laws is Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, which has just been added to the Supreme Court's public order of upcoming cases for further proceedings.
