First premiered on CBS Saturday Morning on September 13, 1969, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! went on to become a major hit and is relevant to this date, more than half a century later. But what many may not know is the fact that the show was purposely developed by Hanna-Barbera in response to the cultural shifts, political situations, and government demands.

Going back a few years into history most easily elucidates the relationship between government, politics, media, and entertainment. Thanks to the advent of the internet, the relationship between the aforementioned entities has, despite more competition and voices, grown stronger.
