Facebook bans sharing and linking to Infowars content

Users who attempt to share Infowars content will be censored unless they explicitly condemn the content.

Sharing and linking to content from the news website Infowars is now prohibited on Facebook and Instagram unless you are explicitly condemning the content. Facebook also says that groups which are set up to promote Infowars content and events promoting Infowars host Alex Jones will be removed.

This announcement was made at the same time that Facebook banned Alex Jones and a number of other high profile figures and also started to ban accounts based on personal interactions and offline behavior.

From The Atlantic:

โ€œInfowars is subject to the strictest ban. Facebook and Instagram will remove any content containing Infowars videos, radio segments, or articles (unless the post is explicitly condemning the content), and Facebook will also remove any groups set up to share Infowars content and events promoting any of the banned extremist figures, according to a company spokesperson.โ€

This means that not only will Infowars be unable to share its content on Facebook and Instagram but Infowars fans will also be censored if they attempt to share Infowars content on either platform.
