It’s local governments that are leading the way on challenging Big Tech

Local governments across the US are getting impatient waiting for the federal level government to, in regulatory terms, catch up with tech companies whose influence and importance in people’s lives has only grown during the pandemic.

This comes as something of a counterpoint to Big Tech spending big money on lobbying efforts aimed at swaying local legislators to pass bills or drop them in a way that primarily suits the giants rather than their constituents.
