Despite what the media wants you to believe, social media platforms don’t have a “hate speech” problem

? The data on the supposed hate speech epidemic that's plaguing social media platforms shows that very few social media users actually come across hate speech.

Mainstream media outlets constantly push the idea that social media sites have a “hate speech” problem.

This narrative is often effective at pressuring social media sites into introducing more aggressive hate speech rules and because hate speech is a vague and subjective term, these rules are then used as a vehicle to censor jokes, opposition, criticism, and other types of innocuous content.
