Last night Pornhub announced that PayPal will now refuse to accept payments for Pornhub – a move that will impact several thousand of performers that use the service to earn a living.

Many Pornhub users see Pornhub as a free service to get access to free material. However, not as many know about the paid services on the platform – and the features that allow performers to upload and monetize their work.

“We are all devastated by PayPal’s decision to stop payouts to over a hundred thousand performers who rely on them for their livelihoods,” Pornhub said in an urgent announcement on its website.

The platform gave performers a list of alternatives that they can use and apologized for the upheaval.

“We sincerely apologize if this causes any delays and we will have staff working around the clock to make sure all payouts are processed as fast as possible on the new payment methods,” the porn site said.

It then directed models to set up a new payment method, with instructions on how PayPal users can transfer pending payments.
