
Just like Wikipedia presents itself as an actual encyclopedia - and is accepted by many as such - so the Internet Archive bills itself as an actual digital archive and library.
But as some of their inner workings have been coming to light over the recent years, trust has slowly been eroding in both these big digital presences that are supposed to collect, organize, and archive information reliably, without prejudice and bias.
The Internet Archive, specifically its Wayback Machine, has recently been in the news for doing the work of moderators and editors of content on the web.
The platform is meant to and expected by internet users to preserve webpages that had otherwise become unavailable and do it without prejudice, as a historical snapshot of information from the web that should continue to be available, supposedly in perpetuity.
