From prank-worthy experiments to government-grade surveillance, “cool tech” like Meta’s smart glasses is turning privacy into an endangered species.

Facial recognition has made its way to “Meta’s Google Glass,” also known as Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. It’s happening as an unofficial “third party” experiment.

One could say that it isn’t wise to be giving Meta this kind of idea – but then again, the idea has already crossed the giant’s mind. The technology has been there for a while, and both Google and Facebook (Meta) are quoted as stating that years ago, they had developed it, but then, according to former CEO Eric Schmidt, Google “withheld it.”
