Pale Moon is for anyone who wants the old, deeply customizable Firefox back. It runs its own Goanna engine (a fork of an older Gecko) and keeps the classic XUL extension system and interface that mainstream browsers dropped. It is open source and independent. A very small team maintains an older engine, which means some modern sites do not render correctly and security fixes land more slowly than on mainstream browsers. It is a niche pick for legacy-extension users and customization diehards.
