How to choose a cloud storage provider

- Open-source apps. So the encryption can be checked instead of taken on trust.
- An independent audit. A third party has reviewed the apps and the encryption.
- Native apps, not just a web app. Browser access can weaken end-to-end encryption, while installed apps keep it intact.
- A clear recovery plan. With zero-knowledge encryption, a lost password can mean lost files. Check how recovery works before you commit.
- Apps for the platforms you use. Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.
