OrangeWebsite has hosted out of Reykjavik since 2009 and builds its whole pitch on Iceland's strong free-speech laws and its position outside the main surveillance alliances. You can sign up completely anonymously, only a working email is required, and pay with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, PayPal, or literally cash by mail. It offers shared hosting, VPS and domain registration, all running on 100% renewable geothermal and hydro power. The company promises to keep your site online and uncensored so long as it stays within its terms and Icelandic law, which makes it a common landing spot for content facing takedown pressure elsewhere.

Strengths

  • Anonymous signup, only an email needed
  • Bitcoin, cash by mail and other options
  • Iceland's strong free-speech laws
  • 100% renewable-powered data center

Considerations

  • Smaller operation than the major clouds
  • Content must still obey Icelandic law and its terms
