How The Government Plots to Control Your Digital Identity

A threat to privacy and free speech.

In the US, the seemingly inevitable march toward implementing digital IDs, one state at a time – rooted firmly in appealing to a heavily consumerist-trained society, with the promise that their consumerism will get “even better” (i.e., easier, more convenient) – continues to cause privacy and security advocates to try and push for constitutional rights not to be discarded along the way.

The attempt, above all, is to make sure that as digital IDs continue to proliferate there must be legal and political wherewithal to make sure that those putting the tools in question to use are also making sure they are in compliance with the country’s Constitution.
