Pricing Desktop apps are free; the mobile apps charge a one-time unlock and a supporter certificate (€29.99 from 2026) adds extras like desktop dark mode.

Cryptomator encrypts individual files on your device before they sync to Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud or any other cloud so the provider only ever sees ciphertext. It creates a “vault” that mounts like a normal drive; each file is encrypted separately and filenames are scrambled too, which keeps syncing efficient. The desktop apps are free and open source under the GPL and the code was independently audited by Cure53, which found no critical issues. Unlike whole-disk tools it is built specifically for cloud storage and works across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Reach for it when you want to keep using mainstream cloud storage without handing the provider your plaintext.
