ImageOptim is a free, open-source macOS app that losslessly compresses images by bundling tools like MozJPEG, pngquant, Zopfli, and SVGO behind a drag-and-drop interface. By default it also removes private EXIF metadata, including GPS coordinates and camera serial numbers so images can be published without leaking that information. There is an option to preserve metadata when you actually need it. It is developed by Kornel Lesinski and runs only on macOS, with native Apple Silicon support. Because the optimization is lossless, the visible image is unchanged; the metadata stripping is a privacy-friendly side benefit of an optimizer.
