Brasil 247 announced that YouTube has removed at least 15 videos from its channel over “hate speech.”

“Youtube has just removed dozens of videos from TV 247 for alleged hate speech when the essence of our work is precisely the fight against hate speech and fascism. We are in contact with Youtube, but we need everyone’s solidarity at this moment,” said Brasil 247’s journalist Leonardo Attuch in a statement.

On August 10, the day the videos were removed, YouTube said it had updated its “electoral integrity” policy to include Brazil. The policy “prohibits content with false information about widespread fraud, errors, or technical issues that allegedly altered the outcome of previous elections after the results have already been officially confirmed.”

The policy was updated to include the Brazilian presidential elections held in 2014 and 2018.

The policy is the reason YouTube removed a livestream of President Jair Bolsonaro with ambassadors, because of claims of unfairness in the Brazilian electoral process.
