Reaction YouTuber Suzy Lu has many past controversies and has been criticized for questionable copyright claims, flagging videos that are critical of her, and her own use of copyrighted anime content.

And last week, Suzy Lu was accused of trying to “silence anyone who’s ever criticized her” after multiple videos that criticized her past actions were taken down.

After those videos went down, Suzy Lu admitted she flags videos she’s “unhappy with” and that she’s previously flagged videos from the Tipster News channel which had two of its critical Suzy Lu videos taken down last week.

Now another video that was critical of her past actions has gone down for…harassment and cyberbullying.

The video from YouTube commentator John Swan did a deep dive on Suzy Lu’s past controversies including her copyright claim of YouTuber Mark After Dark in 2019, Suzy Lu being criticized for re-broadcasting a BBC live stream of the 2016 election, Suzy Lu revealing her flag history on the YouTube news show RFC After Hours, and her temporary channel termination in December 2019 for copyright infringement.

The video quickly became one of Swan’s most popular videos and hit 50,000 views in four days.

However, one week after it was uploaded, it was taken down by YouTube for violating its “harassment, threats and cyberbullying policy.”

Swan has appealed the decision and tweeted that the criticism video was “falsely taken down with a Community Guidelines strike.”

He’s also re-uploaded a version of the video with “heavy censoring” but the full, uncensored version of the video can be seen below:

Suzy Lu’s tweets over the past week have made the takedown of Swan’s video even more contentious for many in the YouTube community.

In a couple of tweets from April 3, the same day that several videos criticizing Suzy Lu were taken down, she was accused of framing commentary channels as “hate channels.”

In these tweets, Suzy Lu also suggested YouTube would be “making changes” that target these channels and added: “This is just the beginning.”

Then on April 6, Suzy Lu told critics that had their content removed for community guideline violations: “Maybe blame your content, not me.”

Suzy Lu added that “it doesn’t matter how many videos get flagged” because YouTube decides whether it comes down and told her critics to “take accountability.”

Less than two hours after Swan announced that his video had been taken down, Suzy Lu tweeted: “Stop throwing your toys out the pram and blaming me when YOUTUBE takes your content down!”

YouTube’s updated harassment rules, which have led to the takedown of most of these videos criticizing Suzy Lu, have been slammed by the YouTube creator community at large for prohibiting genuine criticism of other creators and killing comedy on the platform.

Since their introduction, many popular videos criticizing other creators were retroactively scrubbed from the platform.
