In Italy, protests against vaccine passports have united political rivals in support of freedom

Protests attracting people from across the political and ideological spectrum are continuing in Italy after the country’s government decided to make a Covid certificate, known as the Green Pass, compulsory for all workers in all sectors, including self-employed persons.

And although many Covid related hot button topics, including vaccines and vaccine passports have become the cause of deep societal divisions around the world, in Italy – which is normally a poster child for precisely that type of partisanship – Covid certificate skeptics and opponents believe the situation is so dire that it is producing a somewhat paradoxical effect and some unexpected alliances.
