Betterbird is a fork of Mozilla Thunderbird maintained by Jorg Knobloch, a former Thunderbird release engineer. It tracks Thunderbird's ESR releases and layers on extra features and bug fixes while removing the built-in telemetry and data-collection prompts. It keeps Thunderbird's full OpenPGP support for signing and encrypting mail. Because it is a Thunderbird derivative, existing profiles and add-ons carry straight over. The project is community-funded and ships no crash reporting or telemetry of its own.
