KeePassDX is the Android counterpart to KeePassXC, letting you open and edit the same local, encrypted KeePass databases on your phone. It supports .kdb and .kdbx files with modern algorithms including ChaCha20 and Argon2, fills in forms securely, and can unlock with biometrics. The app is GPL-licensed and developed by Kunzisoft in France, funded by donations and an optional Pro version that only adds visual themes, every security feature is identical in the free build. There's no formal third-party audit but the open code can be reviewed and rebuilt by anyone. For Android users who keep their passwords in a local KeePass file, it's the standard choice.

Strengths

  • Free and open source (GPL-3.0)
  • Works with standard KeePass files
  • Modern encryption with biometric unlock
  • No accounts, ads, or trackers

Considerations

  • Android only
  • No formal independent audit
  • You manage your own syncing and backups
