Logseq is a free, open-source (AGPL-3.0) outliner and knowledge base built on plain-text Markdown files you fully own, with no vendor lock-in. Because your notes stay as local files, no cloud provider can snoop on them but that also means there is no encryption at rest by default so it will not protect against someone with access to your unlocked device. An optional paid Logseq Sync add-on layers on end-to-end encrypted syncing if you want it. The company behind it is US-based. Choose Logseq for data ownership and a powerful graph-based workflow rather than for encryption.
