Ubuntu Touch is a genuine non-Android, non-iOS phone OS from the Germany-based UBports Foundation, now rebased on Ubuntu 24.04. There’s no Google or Apple account and none of the app-tracking machinery, which is the whole appeal. The trade-off is real: the app ecosystem is thin, hardware support is narrow, and you’ll work around gaps constantly. Fairphone 4 and 5 are the best-supported devices, with a handful of Volla, Xiaomi and Pixel models behind them. Treat it as an enthusiast project rather than a daily driver you can lean on.
