One of the doctors who spoke in the “White Coat Summit” press conference promoting hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19 has been fired after the video went viral and received media criticism. Dr. Simone Gold was fired a couple of days after the press conference by the “American Frontline Doctors.”
Dr. Gold specializes in emergency medicine. She graduated from The Chicago Medical School in 1989, meaning she has more than three decades of experience in the medical field.
As an ER doctor, Dr. Gold has been treating COVID-19 patients since the pandemic started. In the press conference that got her fired, she claimed that she observed remarkable improvement in COVID-19 patients after administering hydroxychloroquine.
The video by the American Frontline Doctors, a group founded by Dr. Gold, was posted by Breitbart News on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. In the video, Dr. Gold said, “We’re here because we feel as though the American people have not heard from all the expertise that’s out there, all across our country. We’re America’s Frontline Doctors, we’re here only to help American patients, and the American nation.”
The video went viral – it had more than 17 million views on Facebook alone. However, the video has since been removed by all social media platforms who call the doctors’ statements misinformation.
Dr. Gold has for months been promoting the use of hydroxychloroquine and has been using it to treat patients but, after the most recent video went viral, an online campaign to get her fired was started.
Dr. Gold took to Twitter to express her disappointment with Big Tech and mainstream Media for censoring their expertise on COVID-19 and hydroxychloroquine.
The series of tweets started with:
“THREAD: We organized a group of practicing physicians, many of whom have personally treated COVID-19 patients, and we spoke directly to the American people about our experience and understanding of the virus, and it’s treatment options.”
She then wrote in another tweet that Facebook and Twitter removed the video, the media spread falsehoods about the American Frontline Doctors, and their web host, Squarespace, removed their website.
In another tweet, she asked:
“Why are social media company employees with no medical degree or clinical experience censoring the perspectives of practicing physicians?
“Why are journalists claiming hydroxychloroquine is ineffective when there are numerous studies showcasing its efficacy against COVID-19?”
Dr. Gold has not commented much about her termination from employment, except for confirming the reports on a tweet she posted on August 2.

“After our press conference, I was defamed by the media, censored by social media companies, terminated from employment, and viciously attacked, all for advocating for the right of physicians to prescribe what they believe is best for their patients.”
